How to play Unpaid CEO: Hustler
Unpaid CEO: Hustler is a free browser business simulator. Start with a quick gig, earn in-game dollars, buy assets and watch the difference between revenue and expenses.
Start earning
Choose Quick gig (15 seconds), Focused shift (45 seconds), or Client project (90 seconds), then start your session. Payment arrives only when the timer finishes, even if you leave the game. Each session uses energy and 1–3 of your 6 steps. One step recovers every 2 minutes; energy recovers by 15 per minute. Visit Life to recharge. The timers represent 1, 3 and 6 simulated work hours at a starting $17/hour gross. Displayed payments are $13.60, $40.80 and $81.60 after a modeled 20% tax reserve. Training raises the gross hourly rate up to $75. A session already running when an economy update arrives keeps its agreed payment.
Build carefully
Open Assets to compare businesses and purchases. Business scenarios assume established demand and paid delivery labor. Their monthly receipts have operating costs; startup budgets alone do not guarantee that demand. Cars and collectibles cost upkeep and do not earn revenue. Check net income and payback before buying.

Every amount is a simulated US dollar. Only the clock is accelerated: 1 real second represents 4 simulated minutes; 15 seconds represent an hour; 3 real hours represent a 30-day month. The same clock applies to work, revenue and expenses. Payback is shown in simulated years, after a 25% business tax reserve and before personal living costs.
Asset prices and ranges are illustrative planning scenarios, not live offers or statistically measured price ranges. Vehicle budgets include a setup allowance; properties are bought outright for cash with transaction allowances. No mortgage or debt payment is modeled. Small service and technology prices are startup budgets, while the deli and market are leasehold business purchases, not buildings. Foreign luxury properties and unnamed collectibles are broad illustrative valuations in USD, not appraisals.
Monthly costs include paid delivery labor where applicable, occupancy, supplies, insurance, maintenance and reserves. Property scenarios include vacancy allowances. Revenue represents a stabilized operating scenario, not guaranteed earnings from day one. Travel and booking businesses report commissions or fees, not total bookings. Delivery and driving businesses include a paid operator so owner work is not counted twice. Actual results can be lower or negative; the model does not simulate all licensing delays, demand fluctuations or exchange-rate changes.
- New York Department of Labor: NYC minimum wage is $17/hour from January 1, 2026. This anchors basic work pay; higher trained rates are game scenarios.
- StreetEasy, August 2026 market report: NYC median asking rent $4,200 and Manhattan $4,995. Our Astoria and Midtown units are illustrative specific-unit budgets, not borough medians.
- StreetEasy, May 2026 rental report: Queens asking rent $3,350 provides a rental benchmark.
- Chevrolet Suburban: base 2026 MSRP $63,700 before options and other charges; the game's $85,000 SUV is a higher equipment/setup budget, not a dealer quote.
- BizBuySell deli listings: national median asking price about $299,000 anchors the $300,000 deli scenario. Asking prices are not completed sale prices.
- MTA fares: subway/local bus base fare $3. The model uses a rounded $152 monthly transit allowance.
- NYC mobile food vending: buying a cart does not grant a vending permit. Equipment and startup budgets do not guarantee legal access to a location.
The personal budget assumes one adult renting a room: $1,400 rent, $450 food, $152 transit and $250 utilities/phone/essentials per month. These are selected budgets, not an NYC family cost-of-living average; health care and unusual expenses may require more. Bills start after $100 earned as a starter grace rule.
Work has a flat 20% tax reserve and business profit a 25% reserve; these are deliberately labeled budgeting assumptions. Personal living costs do not reduce the business tax base. Training cost savings are capped at 10%; automation creates no money on its own. Each expansion funds one equivalent unit and increases both base receipts and costs equally. Marketing increases delivery costs as well as sales.
Daily, lesson and mission bonuses are small game rewards, not real-world income sources. Existing cash, assets, skills and achievements are retained. Assets are revalued at the new budgets and future cash flow uses the new model; existing saves receive no retroactive accrual at changed rates on their first visit after this update. Rankings retain historical progress and are not a comparison of equal starting conditions.
